Matthew’s House exists to provide a warm and welcoming building in the heart of Swansea, with the expressed intention of being accessible for the homeless and most vulnerable in Swansea.

They aim for it to have the feel of a home where hospitality is experienced by all who enter the doors, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances.

Part of Matthew’s House, Matt’s Cafe is part of the Real Junk Food (TRJF) Project, a network of national and international cafes (both permanent and pop-ups) with one central objective: to intercept food waste destined for landfill and use it to feed people who need it, on a pay as you feel basis. Matt’s Cafe is the first registered café on the TRJF network in Swansea.

For the past five years since the project started, Steve Tanner, owner of Swansea Home Improvements, has spent his only day off from the business each week working on the project and says it is undoubtedly one of the best things he has ever done. Being able to help those less fortunate than himself is something that he feels blessed to be able to do.

If you want to get involved, make some food donations or find out more about this amazing organisation, visit their site https://matthewshouse.org.uk/ or pop in on Sundays from 5pm till 6pm.
